Harvest Family Fellowship Ministry Mentor Program

One of the calls that God has for us at Harvest Family Fellowship is to help train people for full time ministry. The result of this call is the Ministry Mentor Program.  There are two tracks in the Ministry Mentor Program:

Track 1 - This track is designed for those who have completed, or are currently enrolled in, a Bible School.  Many Bible Schools require ministry students to complete an internship program, and track one is designed to help meet that requirement.  Under track one of the Ministry Mentor Program students will gain experience in applying the training they have learned at Bible School, along with learning other practical aspects of day to day ministry that are not taught in Bible School.  Examples would include clerical work, church accounting principles and practices, building maintenance, project management, leadership development, conflict management, etc.  This will be accomplished through direct, hands on  work along with extensive one on one mentoring/coaching with the Harvest Family Fellowship staff.  We ask that all participants in track one commit to a minimum of 10 weeks.

Track 2 -  This track is designed for those who feel a call to ministry, but are not able to attend a full time Bible School.  Track 2 includes everything from track one with the addition of classes from Global University's Berean School of the Bible.  Harvest Family Fellowship is an approved Global University study center, and all Berean classes are offered at Harvest Family Fellowship.  The goal of track two is for each participant to meet the educational requirements for ministerial credentials through the Assemblies of God.  We ask that all participants in track two commit to a minimum of 1 year.

• Hands on experience in every area of ministry.  Many internships only focus on your particular field of study (e.g.. youth ministry, children's ministry, etc.).  We will focus on your specific field, while at the same time giving you experience in all other areas of ministry, including teaching and preaching in our regular services.

• Working with a new church plant.  Our Tioga location is a brand new work launched in September of 2012
• Assisting with the planning process of our next church plant.  Our vision is to plant a new rural church every 2 to 3 years.  Our target launch for the next location is the fall of 2014
• One on one coaching and mentoring. (Pastor Harry is an AGCC certified Life Coach)
• A place to develop the skills you will need for full time ministry

Ministry Mentor Program

The purpose of the Harvest Family Fellowship Ministry Mentor Program is to take people who have a call of God on their life for full time ministry and help prepare them for that call.  The Ministry Mentor Program is not a substitute for Bible School, but rather a supplement to Bible School.  Bible School does a great job teaching students how to study and apply the Word of God, but generally does not address the practical, day-to-day aspects of ministry.  In the Ministry Mentor Program participants will gain experience in these practical aspects, as well as developing other essential skills such as communication, leadership, and time management.

Requirements:

To be considered for the Harvest Family Fellowship Ministry Mentor Program an individual must have a call of God on their life for full time ministry.  Individuals in the program must also agree to abide by the Harvest Family Fellowship constitution and bylaws, standard operating procedures, and staff handbook.

Responsibilities:

The primary responsibility of a Ministry Mentor participant is to learn.  Everything within the Ministry Mentor Program is done with that primary goal in mind.  Part of the learning process is assisting with the practical, day-to-day activities of the ministry.  This includes, but is not limited to:

• Building & grounds maintenance
• Clerical duties
• Sanctuary set-up
• Sound system training/operation
• Multimedia training/operation

Another aspect of the Ministry Mentor Program is to give the participant experience in direct areas of ministry.  This includes, but is not limited to:

• Children’s Ministry
• Youth Ministry
• Worship Ministry
• Visitation Ministry
• Adult ministry/discipleship
• Men’s/Women’s ministry

Each participant will also be given specific experience in preparing and preaching sermons, preparing and leading Bible studies, how to coach/counsel, as well as learning how to deal with various personality types and temperaments.

The ministry Mentor Program will be customized for each participant based on the specific call of God on their life.  For example, if an individual feels called to be a senior pastor or youth leader, the program will be geared to give them the maximum experience in that area of calling, while still exposing them to other areas of ministry.

The length of the Ministry Mentor Program can vary from individual to individual.  Participants are asked to commit to a minimum of 10 weeks.

Currently, Harvest Family Fellowship is unable to provide a salary for participants in the Ministry Mentor Program.  In light of this, the hours of the program will be customized for each participant to work around job schedules.  It is expected that participants in the Ministry Mentor Program will participate in all Harvest Family Fellowship services and events.  If a job schedule conflicts with a service or event exceptions may be made, provided that the participant assists with at least one Sunday service each week.

Participants in the Ministry Mentor Program are eligible for mileage reimbursement as well as approved ministry related expense reimbursement.  Participants may also be reimbursed for any Berean School of the Bible courses that are successfully completed while in the Ministry Mentor Program, (must commit to the 10 week program to be eligible for reimbursement).  Housing may be available if necessary.
